I won’t bore you with too much information about my upbringing, only that both my parents were educated and loved to read, and they instilled that love of books in me. This is probably why I have loved to write since I could physically put pen to paper.
I am the mother of two crazy beautiful daughters, living in the rainy, but lovely Pacific Northwest, all of which is fodder for my fiction. There is no less than three teenagers at my house on any given day. Having to stay inside most of the time because of the drizzle makes the imagination soar.
My favorite color is black, I have a bordering on unhealthy obsession with sock monkeys, I love road trips, eating pizza, watching my older daughter play soccer, my younger daughter play in her band. Kicking and punching a giant bag is my favorite form of exercise, I have loved my Seattle Seahawks since I was a preteen. I enjoy walking to the ends of the earth, falling asleep under the sun, and taking selfies.
Aside from writing novels, I also tout myself an amateur poet when the mood strikes, a blogger, and sometimes vlogger (though it’s been awhile), and a social media wannabe (I try, but I’m not very good). I was the proud co-president of the Class of 2k12, and member of the Apocalypsies. I’m also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writer’s and Illustrators, The Pacific Northwest Writer’s Association (though I may need to send them money) and the Independent Book Publishers Association. I am the author of the YA titles Never Eighteen (Houghton Mifflin Hourcourt, 2012), which has been nominated for the New York City Reader’s Association Charlotte Award and Dissected (Sock Puppet Press, 2013).
My take on writing:
I like to write things that make people think and feel—things that resonate with them for days. Part of my goal is to live life profoundly, with enough passion and adventure, maybe a little chaos, so that I may become a great writer. I aspire to never stop learning and growing and to continue trying to perfect my craft.
One of my favorite functions as a published writer is to inspire others as well. I love visiting schools and libraries and motivating aspiring writers to finish their stories and never give up their dreams.

“Let the world burn through you. Throw the prism light, white hot, on paper.” ~ Ray Bradbury
“I write only because
There is a voice within me
That will not be still.” ~ Sylvia Plath
“My father was very sure about certain matters pertaining to the universe. To him, all good things–trout as well as eternal salvation–come by grace and grace comes by art and art does not come easy. ” ~ Norman Maclean, A River Runs Through It
